The Pan African START Secretariat (PASS) ) is a component of the Global Change System for Analysis, Research and Training, (START) with a broad overall responsibilities of promoting and coordinating global research capacity building and net working in Africa.
Objectives
The main objective of The Pan African START Secretariat (PASS) is to enhance the understanding of the impacts and consequences of global changes in Africa. Another objective is to disseminate information on global change related activities and to promote research-based on capacity building.

START research in Pan African region centers include:
a) The Pan-African START Secretariat and Research Center, University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
b) START Research Node at University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa
c) START Research Node at the University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana
d) START Research Node at the University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya
